EU Foreign Affairs Council to address topical issues, Iran, Iraq and the Central African Republic

The Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) of the European Union will meet in Brussels on 15 July 2019. The meeting will be chaired by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.

The foreign ministers will start their meeting by discussing pressing international issues. They will also discuss the current situation in Iran, Iraq and the Central African Republic. Migration may also be on the agenda. Over lunch, the ministers will have an informal discussion with the new Moldovan Foreign Minister.

In the FAC meeting, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will give his report on his recent visit to Sudan. High Representative Federica Mogherini has mandated Minister Haavisto to reach out, on behalf of the EU, on the situation in Sudan and how the international community can accompany Sudan on its transition path.
