Man knifed to death during Champions League celebrations in Liverpool

A man has died after being stabbed when a fight broke out in the city centre in the early hours of this morning.

Merseyside Police confirmed they were called to Wild Cat and Ink bars on Back Colquitt Street around 3am.

Officers found two men who had received knife wounds and were taken to hospital for treatment.

A 33-year-old man, from Liverpool city centre, who had suffered a stab wound to his chest was taken to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, where he died a short while later.

The killing is being described as a “targeted attack” and occurred in the early hours Sunday morning as thousands of night time revellers celebrated the city’s triumph in the European Cup final hours earlier.
