President and CEO of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) Rickard Gustafson speaks during a press conference at the company’s headquarters in Frosundavik, Stockholm, Sweden.
After a seven-day pilot strike in Sweden, Denmark and Norway SAS and the pilot unions representatives have reached an agreement.
SAS had to cancel more than 700 flights scheduled for Thursday because of the strike. The pilots were seeking higher wages and other demands.
Analysts estimate the stand-off over wages and other demands by pilots in Sweden, Norway and Denmark could have cost SAS as much as $10.5 million a day, threatening to wipe out the airline’s annual profit in short order.
