Reading Time: < 1 minute

A view of ‘Arkhane’, the skeleton of a 155,000,000 years old Allosaurus dinosaur, on the first day of its exhibition at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences in Brussels, Belgium. Owned by a private collector, the skeleton is now permanently on loan to the Brussels museum that is considered to have the biggest collection of dinosaur skeletons in Europe.

Scientists are worried about the soaring prices of dinosaur skeletons. For several years the skeletons of dinosaurs went under the hammer in auctions all over the world. A dinosaur fossil can range from 400,000 euros up to several million euros. Museums cannot afford to pay so much money that scientific research is no longer possible. The laws regarding the sale of dinosaur fossils vary by country.
