The attacks hitting a miners’ bus in Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and a maternity hospital in Zaporizhzhia, come as Ukraine’s president announced trilateral peace talks in the United Arab Emirates.
A Russian attack on a bus outside the city of Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region resulted in the deaths of at least 15 miners and left seven others injured. This was confirmed by DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy company.
According to DTEK, Russia carried out a widespread assault targeting its mines. One of the strikes specifically hit a service bus in Ternivka, which was transporting miners home after their shift had ended.
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets stated, “The service bus was carrying mine workers — civilians who were not involved in the combat. This is yet another brutal attack with casualties, just for today.”
Earlier the same day, a Russian strike caused damage to a maternity hospital in Zaporizhzhia. Ukrainian authorities reported at least nine people were injured, including a child, as a result of the attack.
These attacks coincide with the announcement by Ukraine’s president of trilateral peace talks to be held in the United Arab Emirates, highlighting the ongoing efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict.
