69.8% of firms in Italy have trouble filling vacancies

A reported 69.8% of companies “have reported difficulties” in filling job openings, according to the 2024 employment survey drafted by industrial association Confindustria which was published on Monday.

Nearly two out of three of the companies polled reported “difficulties in finding the necessary know-how” to fill the openings, the study found.

A reported 31.9% of companies was not looking to hire personnel, Confindustria specified.

Overall, the survey found that businesses with job openings mainly reported problems in finding the “technical knowledge” needed for the post (69.2% of firms) and “manual labour” – in 47.9% of cases at the national level and in 58.9% of cases in the industrial sector, the study noted.
