7.3-magnitude quake rattles eastern Indonesia

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 hit southeast of the city of Ternate, in the Moluccas in the eastern area of Indonesia, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

Beside Sumbawa, tremors were also felt in several cities, including Mataram, Bima and Waingapu.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km at an area 168 km south-southeast of Ternate, the USGS said.

So far there are no immediate reports of casualties or major damage.
