On 29 April 1945, American troops liberated the survivors of the Dachau concentration camp.

The 75th anniversary celebration planned for 03 May 2020 had to be cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic of the COVID-19 disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. On 22 March 1933, a concentration camp for political prisoners was established in Dachau that served as a model for all later concentration camps.

Over 200,000 people from all over Europe were imprisoned here and in the associated subcamps. 41,500 were murdered.
