Paris Half-Marathon cancelled

The Paris half-marathon, which was scheduled for Sunday with 44,000 registered runners, has been cancelled over fears of coronavirus, officials said on Saturday.

The cancellation of large gatherings in confined spaces was announced by Health Minister Olivier Véran after special government meetings Saturday.

The French government ordered the cancellation of “gatherings of more than 5,000 people” in enclosed areas as well as some external events.

The tightened restrictions on public gatherings had an immediate impact. A major four-day trade show in Cannes for property investors was postponed from March to June.

Ligue 1 football matches will still go ahead.
