Mother of two dies after residence collapsed during excavation works adjacent to her home (Updated)

The life-less body of Miriam Pace, who would have turned 55 this Sunday, was found among the debris after her residence collapsed on Monday.
The search and rescue operation for Pace, who was trapped in the rubble of her home, took eight hours. Rescuers had to slowly remove debris from an area indicated by a sniffer dog as the possible location of the victim.
The lifeless body of the mother of two was located around 1000h (local time).
The house collapsed due to ongoing excavation works on an adjacent site in Ħamrun on Monday.
UPDATE: The police are interrogating four persons in connection with the fatal collapse of the the Pace family in Ħamrun on Monday. The residence laid adjacent to a site where there were excavation works going on. It is understood that two contractors, the architect and a technical officer were held under arrest soon after the incident. A separate magisterial inquiry is being led by Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit.
