UK’s risk level raised to high after 10 new deaths and 342 new cases registered in 24hrs

Ten more patients diagnosed with the coronavirus have died, NHS England has announced – almost doubling the total number of fatalities in the UK.

1,140 coronavirus cases have now been confirmed in the UK, according to Public Health England. This is a significant surge – 342 new cases have been diagnosed since 2pm yesterday.

The surge comes after a U-turn from Boris Johnson. The Government is now set to ban mass gatherings in a bid to halt the spread of the virus. In total 37,746 people have been tested and the risk level in the UK has been raised to high.
