Watch: Pope Francis goes on foot to San Marcello al Corso invoking the end of the Co-Vid19 pandemic

This afternoon, shortly after 16:00, Pope Francis, left the Vatican in as a private citizen and visited the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, to address a prayer to the Virgin, Salus populi Romani, whose icon is kept there and venerated.

Subsequently, he went to Via del Corso on foot, as if on a pilgrimage, Pope went the church of San Marcello al Corso, where there is the miraculous Crucifix which in 1522 was carried in procession through the districts of the city to finish the “Great Plague” in Rome.

With his prayer, the Holy Father invoked the end of the pandemic that affects Italy and the world, implored healing for the many sick, remembered the many victims of these days, and asked that their family and friends find consolation and comfort. His intention was also addressed to health workers, doctors, nurses, and to those who in these days, with their work, guarantee the functioning of society.

At around 5:30 pm the Holy Father returned to the Vatican.
