One can say that for anyone addressing an audience, the noise of the mobile phone disturbing the silence is very annoying. There are places, where it is very inappropriate. The church is one of those places.
But what happens when the person receiving the phone call is the priest and on the other side is the Pope.
Fr. Miguel Domínguez Parroquia de la Asunción de Jalostotitlán in Mexico experienced this situation when while reading the gospel, he received a phone call. Pope Francis was on the other end.
After apologising to the faithful, he answered his phone.
Fr. Domínguez spoke to Pope Francis privately for a few moments in the sacristy. Eventually, the Pope also spoke to him publicly with the congregation. Pope Francis concluded with blessings for the faithful.
