Two persons lost their life at sea in two separate incidents. In the first case a fisherman, Rokku Bonnici was carried away by a wave in Wied Iz- Zurrieq. The police have arrested two men after finding more than 100 grammes of cocaine and 50 grammes of heroin in their possession. The two men are a 33-year-old from Qormi and a 19-year-old from Valletta. €7,000 was also found on their person. Malta Independent

A German banker, Matthias Krull, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, after pleading guilty for his role in a billion-dollar international scheme to launder funds embezzled from Venezuela’s state oil company PDVSA.
