4.1 Earthquake registered on the northern slope of Etna

According to the data coming from the seismographs of the INGV seismic network, the earthquake reached the magnitude of 4.1 on the richter scale, with a hypocentre identified at just 2 km of depth. The epicentre is located exactly on the northern slope of Etna, on Piano Provenzana, about 10 km from Linguaglossa and Milo.

The shock was clearly felt in the epicentral area and in a radius of over 30-40 km. Several reports come from Catania, Acireale, Adrano, Taormina, Randazzo, Giarre and Bronte. The earthquake, which lasted a few seconds, was distinctly felt with tremors and rumbles. It was a volcanic earthquake, linked to the activity of Etna.

There are no damages to things or people, but a lot of fear among the population especially in the municipalities near the epicenter, tested by the strong earthquake of a few weeks ago.
