Formal approval for Ramona Frendo for post of judge to General Court of the EU

An expert panel declared that Maltese nominee for the post of judge to the General Court of the European Union,  Dr Ramona Frendo, has been found to satisfy the necessary criteria and has been approved to perform these duties in accordance with the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU.

This has been confirmed by the Conference of Representatives of Governments of Member States, which convened in Brussels on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Malta government said it was confident that Dr Frendo had all the necessary competencies to effectively fulfil this key position to the best of her abilities.

She replaces judge Peter Xuereb, whose nomination to the European Court of Justice was recently approved, at the EU General Court.
