Editors’ Perspectives – 22nd May, 2018

The Times editorial is entitled Councils must lead by Example. It argues that at the same time that the Local Council’s Association called for greater powers to be given to local council to enforce health and safety regulations at construction sites, the same newspaper carried stories that most of the local council offices have been found in breach of occupational health and safety rules.

L-Oriżżont’s editorial <<Viżjoni mibnija fuq l-opportuniżmu>> refers to the vision of the Nationalist Party as declared by PN Leader Adrian Delia and argues that this vision is one based on convenience rather than conviction.

In-Nazzjon uses its editorial to criticise the decision taken by the Government to engage former Minister and current MP Manuel Mallia and give him €100,000 a year. The editorial is entitled <<Gvern li jimpurtah…mill-€100,000 fis-sena ta’ Manuel Mallia>>.

The editorial of The Malta Independent focuses on Italian Politics<<Apocalypse near>> focuses on the situation following the formation of a government between the Movimento 5 Stelle and La Lega and its implications on Europe and the various things which Europe feared after the war and their ‘normalisation’ through ‘democracy’.
