T heresa May will meet Jean-Claude Juncker in Strasbourg tonight amid rising expectations that she will finalise a deal to present to Parliament tomorrow.
The Telegraph reports that the trip was first announced by Ireland’s deputy prime minister Simon Coveney earlier this afternoon, telling reporters that she would go to “try and finalise an agreement if that’s possible”, although Downing Street insisted then that there were no “confirmed” travel plans.
Government sources are now playing down the prospect of a deal, arguing that “there is a basis for further face to face discussion as part of the talks”.
Sky reports that May is expecting to return with something she thinks she can sell as game changing or admit it’s the same deal being returned for meaningful vote.
