PHOTOSTORY: First F-35A stealth fighter jets arrive in South Korea

A F-35A stealth fighter jet arrives at an air base in Cheongju, South Korea, on the 29 March 2019. It is one of a pair of the jets that South Korea received on the day, part of the 40 that South Korea agreed to buy in a 2014 contract, 10 of which are expected to join this year.

In a 2014 deal, Seoul paid $6.5 billion to get 40 F-35As through 2021.

The two F-35A fighter jets departed from the U.S.’s Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.
