British regional airline Flybe cancels 5 % of its flights

British regional airline Flybe said 30 individual flights (about 5 percent), were cancelled on Wednesday.

The airline, which flies over 210 routes across 15 countries, said this was caused because of a host of factors including pilots’ leaves, Easter holidays and network restructuring.

Flybe, which carries 8 million passengers a year between 81 airports across the UK and Europe, said it was working on some mitigation actions, but did not provide further details.

The airline, said affected customers can re-book their travel on an alternate flight or apply for a full refund.

The airline currently as is entering discussions over potential job losses. Flybe’s chief executive Christine Ourmieres-Widener was quoted as saying that the discussions over jobs are at an early stage and the company will try and avoid job losses by filling internal vacancies with existing staff, including roles at other bases.
