Photo Story – Mam Indians carry out Prayer of Rain 40 days after the end of Holy Week, in Guatemala

A Mayan spiritual guide throws flower petals as an offering to the Chicabal lagoon, in the crater of the Chicabal volcano, in San Martin Sacatepequez, Guatemala, 13 May 2021. Mam Indigenous people perform the Prayer for Rain every year, 40 days after Holy Week, asking for the arrival of rain and abundance. The lagoon has 20 Mayan altars where people pray and deliver floral offerings, at 2,000 meters above sea level, on the dormant Chicabal volcano.
