A strong earthquake struck the central Philippines on Monday with the U.S Geological Survey giving it an intensity of 6.4.
At least 11 persons lost their life in the earthquake that emptied buildings of tens of thousands who have just returned from the long Holy Week holiday, and shutting down rail lines and a key airport.
The eight people were killed when two buildings and some houses collapsed in two towns in Pampanga province.

The transportation ministry halted operations at all railway lines in the capital, stranding hundreds of thousands of commuters.
It also ordered an inspection of runways at Manila’s main airport, and warned travelers to expect flight delays.
The tremor was felt in San Felipe, Zambales, and in Quezon City.
People come out from a commercial mall following an earthquake felt at Subic Bay Freeport in Zambales province, north of Manila. Initial reports from the capital, Manila, said offices were swaying in the business district of Makati City.
Pampanga, some 90km north of Manila, seems to have borne the brunt of the earthquake.
An airport inside the Clark special economic zone, which straddles parts of Pampanga, was shut down for at least 24 hours.
