Bad weather in Italy claims life of one person

A wave of extreme weather claimed at least one life at the weekend continued to cause problems in Italy.

A 65-year-old German tourist died as he went kite-surfing near Marsala on Sunday due to a violent gust of wind that threw him against a car.

One person is missing after being among five people in a car that was swept into the Mincio river in Lombardy.

A train heading to Milan hit a tree that was blown into the tracks near Mantua and the cathedral of Vigevano, near Pavia, had to be closed due to damage caused by storms.
