Two earthquakes, the first of magnitude 2.6 at 8.03 and the second of 3.6 at 10, were recorded in the Norcia area by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology.
According to the firefighters, a roar was also heard.
So far there have not been reports of damages or vicitims.
