Mattarella : “Let the face of this Republic be a human one”

ANSA The Italian President in a strong appeal said, “You, elected by the people, gathered in this sovereign assembly, must feel the immense dignity of your mission. It is up to you to give a face to the Republic. Let the face of this Republic be a human face. Remember that democracy is not just a relationship between majority and minority, but it is above all a problem of relationships between man and man. Where these relationships are human, democracy exists; where they are inhuman, it is only the mask of a new tyranny”
