A man was certified dead after he found himself in difficulty while swimming in Pretty Bay, Birzebbugia, today, 1st July, 2019, at around 1520hrs.
Preliminary investigations by the district Police found that a 75-year-old man residing in Qormi, was swimming in the mention bay but found himself in difficulty.
The man was brought ashore by people who were in the area and noticed that he was in difficulty.
An ambulance was called on site to take the victim to Mater Dei hospital for further treatment.
A Magisterial Inquiry has been appointed into the case, whilst Police investigations are still on going.
