Italian author Andrea Camilleri dies at 93

The famous Italian author Andrea Camilleri passed away. He was 93 years.

On June 17th, Camilleri was admitted to hospital Santo Spirito in Rome, after suffering from a heart attack.

Originally from Porto Empedocle, Sicily, Camilleri began studies at the Faculty of Literature in 1944, without concluding them, meanwhile publishing poems and short stories.

About 10 million copies of his novels have been sold to date and are becoming increasingly popular beyond Italy, like in Malta, in the UK (where BBC Four broadcast the Montalbano TV series from mid-2011), Australia and North America.
