Malta Enterprise Investment committee says it was misled by management on Sofia project
The Investment Committee of Malta Enterprise, responsible for evaluating and supporting expansion proposals from small businesses and startups, asserts that it was provided with inaccurate information by Malta Enterprise’s management. The Committee maintains that it never sanctioned a five-storey factory but had only approved a one-floor workshop. This response comes in light of severe criticism directed at the Committee in the final report of the Sofia inquiry, which characterized the assessment process as “superficial.” The statement is endorsed by former members of the Investment Committee, namely Peter Borg, Frank Farrugia, Paul Abela, Victor Carachi, and Dana Farrugia, all of whom resigned following the release of the Jean Paul Sofia Public Inquiry Report.

PN says culture of impunity reigns supreme
The Nationalist Party (PN) and Opposition Leader Bernard Grech said that government perpetuates a climate of impunity where individuals believe they can act without consequences. During an interview on RTK 103, Dr. Grech expressed disappointment that, despite the public appeals for an inquiry into the Jean-Paul Sofia tragedy, the Prime Minister persisted in shielding himself and his ministers. He pointed out that, in addition to the report on the investigation into Daphne Caruana Galizia’s murder, there are other reports, such as the one on the femicide of Bernice Cassar Cilia, that remain untouched. When questioned about the findings of the Jean-Paul Sofia report, Dr. Grech emphasized the need for politicians to acknowledge their political responsibility. Consequently, the PN has initiated a no-confidence motion against the three ministers responsible for the entities mentioned in the report.
