Former Italian footballer Totò Schillaci hospitalized in Palermo hospital in critical condition

Totò Schillaci, the former footballer famous for his incredible performance during the 1990 World Cup, is currently hospitalized in critical condition at Palermo’s Civic Hospital.

His family has reassured fans that, despite the seriousness of the situation, his condition is stable and under constant medical supervision.

Schillaci has previously battled colon cancer, undergoing surgeries that left him without a rectum and sphincter. It is unclear if his current hospitalization is related to a recurrence of the illness, but his family is closely monitoring his health.

Schillaci, who will turn 60 in December 2024, is fondly remembered for his contribution to the Italian national team, becoming the top scorer during the famous “notti magiche” (magical nights) of the 1990 World Cup.
