Pep Guardiola feels he is ‘not good enough’ after City’s late defeat by United

Pep Guardiola admitted he is “not good enough” after Manchester City’s late derby defeat to Manchester United extended their poor run to eight losses in 11 games.

City took the lead through Josko Gvardiol’s 36th-minute header, but a defensive error by Matheus Nunes led to an 88th-minute penalty converted by Bruno Fernandes, before Amad Diallo sealed United’s win in the dying moments.

“Today we have to win. I’m the boss, I’m the manager, and I’m not good enough. I have to find solutions, and so far I haven’t. That’s the reality,” Guardiola said.

When asked if he believes he can turn things around, he responded: “I want it, desperately. But eight losses in 11? I’m here to try and will try again and again. That is the reality.

“In a big club, when you lose eight out of 11, something is wrong. I could blame the tough schedule or injuries, but when you’re 3-0 up against Feyenoord and draw, it’s not just that. Something else is happening.”
