Cyprus is making a concerted push to bring its diaspora home with a new initiative aimed at reversing brain drain and injecting fresh talent into the island nation’s economy.
The campaign, dubbed “Minds in Cyprus,” officially launches next week in London. But the initiative is already attracting significant interest, with more than 750 individuals registered ahead of the event, government officials said.
President Nikos Christodoulides unveiled the campaign during the IN Business Awards 2025, describing it as a key element of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen economic resilience and long-term competitiveness.
“We’re not just offering tax breaks,” Christodoulides said. “We’re rolling out a comprehensive set of measures to support Cypriots who wish to return — whether they’re looking to work, invest, or build something new here.”
Strong early demand forced organizers to relocate the launch event to a larger venue in London, underscoring the campaign’s momentum.
Backed by Invest Cyprus and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEBE), the campaign seeks to reconnect with skilled Cypriots living abroad and encourage them to contribute to the country’s economic future. While national pride and identity are part of the appeal, officials emphasized the initiative is fundamentally rooted in long-term economic policy.
“This is not just about sentiment,” a government spokesperson said. “It’s about leveraging human capital to secure Cyprus’ future.”
