Amber Rudd resigns from Johnson’s Cabinet and Conservative party

Amber Rudd announced that she will be resigning from the cabinet and quitting the Conservative Party over “Boris Johnson’s “purge” of the party and his “failure” to pursue a deal with the EU.”

The Sunday Times  says that this move will rock the government. Rudd, who is the work and pensions secretary said she is quitting because there is “no evidence” Boris Johnson is really seeking a deal with the European Union – despite claims that it is his priority. She also told The Sunday Times that she was resigning because of Boris Johnson’s “purge” of the party.

“Unfortunately I can no longer continue to serve and and I have been surprised unfortunately by the lack of work and preparation that is going into getting a deal with the European Union,” she told the newspaper.
