Suicide bomber kills 12 outside court in Pakistan capital

At least 12 people have been killed and 27 others injured in a suicide bombing outside a court complex in Islamabad, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed.

The explosion took place on Tuesday in the parking area of the Judicial Complex. Speaking at the scene, Naqvi said the attacker had aimed for a police vehicle after failing to enter the compound. Efforts to identify the bomber are ongoing, he added.

The victims, most of them civilians, were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while emergency teams rushed to assist the wounded. Local media broadcast harrowing images showing bloodied victims lying beside a damaged police van.

The Pakistani Taliban, known as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it had targeted judicial officials. Police and rescue teams have since cordoned off the area and launched a full investigation.
