Italy Braces for Surge in Winter Visitors as International Demand Climbs

Italy’s tourism sector is preparing for a buoyant winter season as foreign arrivals surge. A Demoskopika study previewed by ANSA estimates that 14 to 14.4 million international travellers will visit the country this winter, marking a 21% increase over last year. Their stays are expected to reach 52 million overnight bookings, nearly 29% more than the previous season.

Domestic travel is also projected to hold steady, bringing the total number of winter holidaymakers to 29.7 million. Altogether, tourists are expected to generate 93 million overnight stays, according to the report. Direct spending is forecast to climb to €14.8 billion, underscoring tourism’s continued weight in Italy’s economic landscape.
