PN should not repeat past mistakes – Malta Independent on Sunday

The Independent on Sunday says that the dismantling of the fuel storage tanks in Birżebbuġa is still pending approval by the Planning Authority. The paper says that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat announced their demolition during the election campaign in 2017.

The newspaper also speaks to former PN media chief Pierre Portelli following rumours that he may contest the role of party Secretary General in November. Portelli confirmed to the Malta Independent on Sunday that he has been encouraged to run but said he is not interested.

The position will be up for grabs in the coming weeks during a round of internal mid-term internal party elections, a contest that will most likely revive the internal power-struggle between the Party’s on and off warring factions.

“Now that I’ve returned to the private sector, I intend keeping it that way,” he told the Malta Independent on Sunday.
