Flowers and a toy paper plane are seen in front of the Iranian embassy in a tribute to the airplane crash victims in Kiev, Ukraine.
Many families, several young children, and a number of students who were among the victims of a Ukraine International Airlines crash were either Canadian citizens or were travelling to Canada.
Flight PS752 — an American-made Boeing 737-800 — crashed early Wednesday morning local time, minutes after taking off from Tehran’s main airport early on its way to Kyiv. The crash killed all 176 passengers and crew on board, Ukrainian officials said.
