An Economic Vision for Malta to be launched this week by The Malta Chamber of Commerce

Malta Chamber President Perit David Xuereb stated that the Economic Vision for 2020-2025 is expected to be launched next week. This was referred to during a meeting with a delegation from the Ministry for Finance and Financial Services, headed by Finance Minister Hon Edward Scicluna, which discussed the work of The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry in favour of national competitiveness.
Perit Xuereb said that the Chamber tasked 28 CEOs of top business organizations operating from Malta to formulate the Economic Vision 2020-2025 for the Maltese islands. He added that this document will reflect the ideas of Malta’s most prominent business leaders, together with the Chamber’s views, on where they see their sectors and Malta’s economy in general going in the next five years.
“The new Economic Vision will serve as a follow up to the first edition ‘An Economic vision for Malta 2014-2020’, and shall once again strive to provide government with a business agenda for the country’s economy”, he said.
Hon Scicluna stated that the government and the business community both share common goals and visions in maintaining Malta’s continued economic growth and improving the wellbeing of the population. He also referred to the main challenges that the country is facing, primarily in governance issues international developments in corporate taxation, and issues related to the maintenance of a level playing field for all local operators.
