There is shock in the Italian capital Rome after a member of Italy’s Carabinieri was stabbed to death while on duty.
The Italian security official was stabbed as he stopped two persons on the suspicion of theft. The two then fled from the scene and are currently being sought by the Italian authorities.
The stabbing happened in via Pietro Cossa, in the Prati area of Rome. The victim has been identified as Mario Cerciello Rega.

Various Italian politicians and personalities expressed their condolences and condemned the killing with Italy’s Interior Minister Matteo Salvini using harsh words and promising the perpetrators of this crime will be caught and brought to justice.
