A Christmas theme park revives the tradition of the ‘Posada’ in Mexico

With piñatas, Christmas carols, food and traditional songs, a theme park in western Mexico seeks to recover the essence of traditional Mexican inns (“Posadas”, which recreate the stables where Joseph and Mary had to take refuge) and set aside the concept of Christmas imposed by the United States.

The recreation of a small typical Mexican town is the setting for the “Mexican Inn” (“Posada”), one of the four worlds that make up the Navidalia theme park that opened its doors on Friday and seeks to keep the traditional Mexican Christmas holiday alive, Marcos Jimenez, creative director of Navidalia, said.
