The arrival of artificial intelligence is a threat to the jobs of around 218,000 civil servants in Italy, according to a report presented at the 2024 Public Administration Forum (Forum P.a 2024) on Tuesday.
The report said around 57% of Italian civil servants, some 1.8 million workers, will be ‘heavily exposed’ to the adoption of AI and 12% (218,000 people) risk being replaced outright.
The report added that the effectiveness of 80% of Italian civil servants could be improved by them incorporating AI into their work.
