Annual Consumer Law Conference Programme Announced

Human rights, the Payment Accounts Directive, the European Electronic Communications Code and smart contracts will be amongst the main topics at the forthcoming Annual Consumer Law Conference being hosted by the Malta Chamber of Advocates, through its Malta Law Academy and in collaboration with the Department of Commercial Law at the University of Malta.
The Chamber has in fact just announced the official programme of speakers and their respective presentation topics.
Dr David Fabri’s opening presentation will deal with recent consumer developments and mishaps, Dr Annalies Muscat will deliver a review of recent consumer law judgements, Dr Omar Grech will discuss human rights and Consumer Law from an EU perspective, Dr Mariosa Vella Cardona will speak on how the Payment Accounts Directive affects consumers, Dr Theresienne Mifsud will debate whether the European Electronic Communications Code is an effective protection for consumers whereas Dr Mireille Caruana will talk on blockchain, smart contracts and consumer protection.
Professor Guido Alpa, Italy’s foremost expert and writer on consumer rights and the development of consumer law will be the main speaker of this conference on Friday 5th April.
The Annual Consumer Law Conference will be held at the Chamber of Advocates Conference Hall at the Courts of Justice in Valletta on the 5th of April 2018 between 1.30pm and 5.00pm.
