Today, Italian singer and songwriter Antonello Venditti celebrates his seventieth birthday.
For the past 50 years, Venditti was an absolute protagonist of Italian music.
The singer-songwriter reaches this important milestone with a unique path behind him that made him one of the main pillars of Italy’s music scene.
Antonello was born into a family that gave him a rigid education. His father was a public official while his mother was a teacher of Greek and Latin.
He started studying the piano early and when he was only fourteen he wrote one of the famous songs of our country, or “Rome Capoccia”.
One distinguishing feature of Venditti is the great love for the Eternal City so much to become one of the greatest exponents of the “Roman School” and one of the symbolic singer-songwriters of the capital.
This is also reflected in his passion for the football team of Roma, so much that in 1983, on the occasion of the victory of the second championship, the artist performed a concert at the Circus Maximus in front of over 250,000 celebrating people presenting the song “Grazie Roma”.
The song is played till today at the end of every game of the team.
