UPDATED: Putin discusses measures to curb internal security threats

April 1 (Reuters) – Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed additional measures to “avert and neutralise internal security threats” with members of his Security Council on Friday, TASS news agency reported, as Moscow continues its military campaign in Ukraine.

Last month Putin delivered a stark warning to Russian “traitors” who he said the West wanted to use as a “fifth column” to destroy the country

President Joe Biden said earlier that Russian President Vladimir Putin seems to be self-isolating in Russia and may have fired or put under house arrest some of his advisers.

“He seems to be self-isolated and there’s some indication that he has fired or put under house arrest some of his advisers,” Biden said without citing evidence. “But I don’t want to put too much stock in that at this time.”
