Today at around 1715hrs, the Police were informed that their assistance was needed at sea between Xlendi and Dwejra Gozo since a boat overturned.
The Police went on site where preliminary investigation showed that a boat overturned and three persons were injured.
Members from the Armed Forces of Malta reported on site to assist. Three 29 year old men, who reside in Xewkija, Luqa and Siggiewi, were taken ashore by means of a dinghy in Xlendi harbour. The three victims were then taken to the Gozo General hospital, by means of an ambulance, for further medical treatment. Later the 29 year old who resides in Xewkija was certified as suffering from serious injuries. The condition of the other two injured men is still pending.
A Magisterial inquiry was appointed into the case and Police investigation is still on going.
