Bomb attack destroy’s journalist Sigfrido Ranucci cars

In the early hours of the morning, two cars belonging to Italian journalist Sigfrido Ranucci, the host of the investigative television programme Report, were completely destroyed in a bomb attack outside his home in Campo Ascolano, near Rome. The explosion, caused by a makeshift device containing around one kilogram of explosives, was so powerful that it shook the entire neighbourhood. No one was injured.

Ranucci confirmed the incident on social media, describing it as a “disturbing escalation” after years of threats linked to his journalistic work. “There’s an endless list of threats I’ve received,” he told reporters after filing a police report. “But I remain calm — the state has always stood by me.”

The blast severely damaged the vehicles and nearby property. Investigators believe the device was manually ignited rather than remotely detonated. Italy’s Interior Minister, Matteo Piantedosi, has ordered maximum security protection for Ranucci.

The Report team said the explosion could have been fatal had anyone been nearby. Police and bomb experts are analysing the remnants of the device and reviewing surveillance footage from surrounding roads to identify those responsible for the attack, widely condemned as an act of intimidation against the press.
