Boris Johnson’s private life makes him a “security risk” to Britain – senior cabinet minister

Boris Johnson was branded a security risk by a senior cabinet minister who is close to Theresa May but is backing Hunt for the leadership. The comments were made in a conversation with a second cabinet minister, who is also supporting Hunt and who shared the claim with The Sunday Times.

“There will be things in his private life that we don’t know about,” the source said. “There’s the danger that people leak what they have over him or blackmail him with it.”

Meanwhile in an open letter yesterday Hunt called on Johnson to stop dodging difficult questions and demanded that he agree to more television debates if he wants the keys to Downing Street. “The purpose of this stage is to test us — our plans, our policies, our character,” he wrote. “Scrutiny can be uncomfortable. But if we can’t handle it from friends, we don’t deserve to lead against our opponents.”
