After 4 days, the Italian Government authorises ‘Alexander Maersk’ to dock at Ragusa harbour

ANSA: The Italian Ministry of the Interior authorised the cargo ship Alexander Maersk to dock at the port of Ragusa. This was announced by the mayor Roberto Ammatuna, underlining that “this is the end of the nightmare for 110 migrants who are on board who will be welcomed and assisted in the best possible way”.

The entry into the port was scheduled for around 22.00.

The mayor expressed his satisfaction at the positive conclusion of the affair. It was a decision that was awaited not only by me but also by the whole city who has experienced the evolution of the situation with apprehension  continues Roberto Ammatuna –

Ammatuna thanked Minister Salvini for accepting the humanitarian request that he made adding  “I am sure that the decision taken is the right one”. “. “Today – concludes Ammatuna – is an important day, because in addition to the happy conclusion of the story it has been shown that solidarity is still a widespread feeling”.
