British Parliament business to be suspended on Monday, Government confirms

In the UK, the Parliament will be suspended at the end of Commons business tonight, the government has confirmed.

Although the decision is legal, this will be the longest prorogation in modern history, in the middle of the biggest political crisis since the war.

Speaking to journalists at a regular Westminster briefing, Boris Johnson’s official spokesman said that while the government would obey the law, the prime minister would not be requesting another Brexit delay

“The prime minister is not going to seek an extension,” the spokesman said.

“If MPs want to resolve this there is an easy way – vote for an election today and let the public decide.”
