Cinemas in Italy may reopen but with open-air showings

Italian cinemas may reopen this summer with open-air showings at which customers will wear facemasks and keep a safe distance, according to the new ‘Movement Village’ project presented Tuesday.

The project has been conceived by cinema operators with the participation of sector companies.
It is supported by the culture ministry and cinema sector agency ANICA.
The aim is to keep the hard-hit sector’s head above water as the ‘new normal’ reigns amid the coronavirus emergency phase two, sources said.
