Coronavirus declared global emergency by World Health Organisation

Coronavirus is declared global emergency by World Health Organization as outbreak continues to spread outside China with the total of infected people rose to 7,834 – the vast majority of them in China – and 170 dead.

Speaking at a press conference, Director General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom praised the Chinese authorities for their quick reaction to the outbreak, saying that the disease would have spread far more rapidly and widely if not for their work in containing it.

The WHO made the global concern declaration after it was revealed that eight of the deaths related to the virus had occurred outside of the outbreak’s epicenter, China’s Hubei province.
